Episode 1: High Performance Habits - The Road to Resiliency W/ Kim Ades

Welcome to QCMHA’s first podcast episode!

We’re excited to launch this new series as a platform for our community to easily access resources, advice, and insights into other people’s experiences on their mental health journey. Each episode will address a different topic relating to mental health and well-being for university students, so stay tuned and keep a look out for upcoming episodes!  

 

Our first podcast guest is an inspiring, dedicated, and entrepreneurial woman who is a leader in performance and thought mastery. We are so excited to bring you, Kim Ades! Kim is the President and Founder of ‘Frame of Mind Coaching’, which is a life-coaching company dedicated to helping highly driven leaders achieve their goals. In this episode, we discuss the impact that our thoughts and beliefs have on performance, specifically how they can dictate success or failure in any situation. Stick around to learn the value of training your mental muscles to build emotional resilience, and ultimately achieve ANYTHING you put your mind to.

Our second guest is Roy Hennig, who is the vice president of sales at LyricFind, a organization that specializes in providing licensing, lyric display and synchronization to businesses that want to encourage music discovery, engagement and provide a complete enhanced music experience. Alex and Taylor sat down with Roy for a candid conversation about his exciting position and career, life experiences, and mental health journey, all of which provide valuable advice and insight for students on how to best manage personal wellbeing in their professional lives and the tricks to finding meaningful purpose along the way.

QCMHA is thrilled to welcome Eve Staszczyszyn for our third podcast where she leads us through three different meditation exercises to unwind during exams. The first is a two minute exercise to draw attention to breath and gradual slowing of the breath.In combining her passion for mental health and wellness with her entrepreneurial mind, Eve has co-developed a wellness platform for university students called Wellness World. This wellness platform helps students keep track of their physical and mental health, while also assisting students in finding appropriate resources for their mental health.

Episode 4: Community Mental Health: The Role of NFPs W/ Tracy Elop

The QCMHA Podcast is back with our first episode of the new year! This series has been launched with the goal of providing a platform for our community to easily access resources, advice, and insights into other people’s experiences on their mental health journey. This episode we welcome Tracy Elop, who is the CEO of Carizon. Carizon is an organization focused on mental health services with the goal of giving people hope for their futures. The agency provides a wide array of services stemming from youth education, preventative counseling, and workplace programs. Taylor, Alex, and Tracy’s conversation covers everything from Tracy’s career journey from working in the corporate world to a not-for-profit agency, Carizon’s work and response to community needs throughout the pandemic, and advice on following your passions within the social impact sector.

Episode 5: Carving Your Path & Finding Purpose W/ Nadene Joy

Nadene Joy is a top advisor to Leaders, Influencers, and change-makers, a Global Mindset Strategist focused on high-level communications and helping individuals and corporations that are stuck. She also focuses on equipping leaders with the tools required to achieve their goals, provides strategies to help them move towards becoming the best versions of themselves possible to uncover their full potential.
 
She believes we are all leaders whether you are a teacher, mom/dad, or a CEO. Nadene Joy is a Certified CMHA Psychological Health and Safety Advisor, NLP Practitioner, John Maxwell Leadership Trainer, and author of the books “Uncover Your Purpose: Heal and Share Your Gifts With the World”  and “Love is...A Guide to The Power of Love.” She also co-authored the book “Cracking The Rich Code vol. 4” alongside Kevin Harrington the hit star of the TV Show Shark Tank and business icon, Jim Britt.  She worked as a professional Exploration Geologist for several years in corporate before beginning her journey as CEO of her own global consulting practice. She started her coaching career as a Certified Parenting Coach in California where she has positively transformed hundreds of families and youth worldwide.
 
Nadene Joy is also an international best-selling author and sits as the Director on various Boards including Maybell Developments which helps to combat homelessness in her community and is Director with the Canada-Africa Network for International Trade. She also is a prestigious member of The International Society of Female Professionals and is an active advocate for mental health, empowering women, leaders, children, and the minority and vulnerable members of society and the world.
 
Nadene Joy is also the Chair/Founder of the Global Lead 2 Impact Summit and CEO and Co-Founder of a corporate wellness program.  She is also a proud mother of 4 children and is extremely passionate about being an impactful leader and speaker who transforms lives and makes a positive difference in the world through sharing her wisdom, God-given gifts, and serving others with kindness in all she encounters.

As recent graduates of the program, Conor and Alex both share valuable insights and perspectives about their time in the Commerce program here at Queens. We cover topics such as imposter syndrome, taking care of yourself, and breaking down the stigma of Commerce culture.

Karen is the Founder of Overflo, a confidential mental wellness platform for youth. The program officially launched early 2021 at Smith for all students in the hope of changing the landscape for mental health wellness. Since then, we have propelled towards a safer space with greater access to support, and we could not be happier to have Overflo's very own founder speak with us.
